Our biggest gift

As improvisers, our biggest gift is that a scene is just one scene. We fucking don’t care if it went good or bad. There are hundreds and thousands more scenes coming up, so who cares? Why get in our heads for just one scene?

I realized that while brushing my teeth. And also after realizing it’s stupid to be pissed off for not being part of the show tonight. And also thanks to Keith who mentionned that in order to draw faces better, he drew 5000 faces (and numbered them, to monitor his progress).

I miss my group in France…

The greatest insights come in the bathroom… particularly in moments of frustration. Maybe because it’s the place of our most banal performances (!): we take ourselves less seriously there, we can relax a little and look on life (and impro) from a more matter-of-factly point of view…

Conclusion: impro theatres should build bathrooms right next to the stage so that we can walk straight from the bathroom onto the stage, and then go right back to the bathroom when we get off stage.
