A question to Susan Messing and Bill Arnett

July 12th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Susan Messing is a director and actress. She teaches and performs at The Annoyance. Bill Arnett is also an actor and director. He teaches and performs at iO Chicago.

PS : Sorry for the very poor quality of the video and sound. I’m taking these videos from my Olympus Stylus 1030 SW, which isn’t necessarily designed for that. But if I pay attention to the light and background sounds, it pretty much does ok. So I’ll be careful next time.

Here’s what they actually say in the video:

Bill: It’s all… everything you need is right inside there (pointing to Susan’s eyes).
Susan: The most important thing… Ok. Don’t be afraid to look stupid, because that [promotes (not sure)] comedy.
Bill: The most powerful thing you can give yourself and your scene partner is a reasonable reality that you can always fall back on if you don’t have anything funny to say.
Susan: And a fine [rimjob (not sure)].

Yeah, I think you got the transcript right. That’s what it sounds like to me as well.
