A question to Nancy Becket / Comedy Writing

July 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Nancy Becket is my teacher in Comedy Writing 1 at the Second City Summer Immersion. The class has been a real pleasure and full of discoveries. Here’s her secret.

Description:

Mike is athletic and likes to do things that are nature-related. He can build stuff and is a little stupid. He likes to hit first and talk later, he’s no good with words anyways… He’s a professional bodybulding coach.
- Mike: « Do more. Do 50 more squats. »
- Barbara (in baby talk): « I sure will Michael Wikelkins. Who’s my trainer? You’re my trainer. You’re a good trainer, aren’t you? »
- Mike: « Yeah. I’m a good trainer. That’s nice, hard and clean. You have nice muscles, by the way. »
- Barbara (in baby talk): « Of course, I do I’m a new mommy. New mommies have muscley wuscley. And you’re my strong bear. »
- Mike: « Oh yeah. I’m a bear. I just wrestled one yesterday, when I was running in the woods. Probably killed it. Felt good.»
- Barbara: « Oh! Young man. We do not go around killing bears. You are supposed to use your words. Take a time out. »

J’en viens à me dire que j’aime ça autant que l’impro!
